Every backup vendor can show you a green dashboard. The one that matters is the morning a client is down and you have to put them back. This page is how we'd tell you to evaluate any MSP backup platform, including ours.
✦ $7 per workstation, $17 per server at MSP wholesale. No credit card to trial. No contract.
Plenty of good backup software is sold to MSPs without ever being built for one. The difference shows up in four places, and all four are commercial as much as technical.
You manage every client from one console, with separation between tenants and schedules, retention and exclusions set per client. If you're logging into a different portal per customer, it's a business product being resold, not an MSP platform.
Your brand on the console, the agent and the reports. Your client should experience backup as part of your service, not as a third party you happen to resell. Watch for vendors that charge extra for this, or only brand the portal and leave their name on the agent.
Prices should be quoted as what you pay, monthly, per device, so you can set client pricing on top. Per-GB billing and annual commitments both transfer the risk to you and make it hard to quote a client a stable number.
Ask the direct question: do you ever sell to my clients? A vendor with a direct sales motion is a competitor sitting inside your accounts with your client list. We're channel-only, and that isn't a phase we're growing out of.
Take this list into any vendor call, ours included. The answers separate the platforms fast.
Backup success rates are marketing. Restore time is the number your client experiences. If you can't do a full test restore during an evaluation, that's the answer.
Servers, workstations, Microsoft 365, VMware, Hyper-V, Proxmox, disk image, databases. Every workload that needs a second vendor is another console, another bill, another support queue and another renewal.
A compromised endpoint must not be able to reach back and delete its own recovery points. Without immutability, ransomware takes the backups with it and the whole exercise was theatre.
Per-GB pricing means a client's data growth becomes your surprise. Ask what a busy file server costs at double its current size, and see whether they can answer without a quote.
Console, agent, reports and notification emails. Ask to see a client-facing report before you sign anything.
If the answer involves an installer and a spreadsheet, price in the tech hours. It should be an RMM script.
Ask who is on the other end and whether they've run an MSP. A ticket queue with a 24-hour SLA is not support when a client is down.

Built by an MSP owner who was failing this checklist with his own vendors, and fixed each item because it had already cost him something.
Granular file recovery, full bare-metal restore, and disk image restore to physical hardware, a hypervisor or cloud. The trial is a working environment, not a sandbox, so you test a real restore on a real machine before you commit to anything.
Servers, workstations on Windows, macOS and Linux, Microsoft 365, VMware, Hyper-V, Proxmox VMs and containers, disk image, and application-aware SQL, Exchange, MySQL and MongoDB. See every workload →
Recovery points an attacker can't alter or delete, encrypted in transit and at rest, stored off-site away from the client network, with the encryption keys held by you.
All your clients share one pool, so a busy server borrows headroom from quiet laptops. You buy capacity for your business instead of guessing per machine, and you add it in blocks you can see priced in advance.
Push the agent across the whole fleet with our deploy script. Most shops are protecting their first clients the same afternoon they start the trial.
Phone, chat and email, 9am to 9pm EST, answered by people who've sat in your chair. Sometimes it's the founder. That's the whole support model.
There's a real difference between reselling a backup product and running a backup service. Reselling means your client knows whose logo is on the console and can price-shop it without you. A white-label service is part of your stack, and the value your client sees is yours.
With Magnus Box, your branding goes on the console, the agent and the reports. It's included in the $45/month partner account rather than sold as a premium tier, because charging extra to hide our name never made sense to us.
And we're channel-only. We sell through you, never to your clients. There is no direct product for a client to find, and no sales team with a reason to look at your account list.
White-label vs reselling, in depth →These are MSP wholesale rates. You set your own client pricing and keep the difference. No contracts, no per-GB surprise bills.
Desktops and laptops on Windows, macOS and Linux.
Physical and virtual servers.
A $45/month partner account includes white-label branding, real support, and your first 3 licenses free. Then add only the workloads each client needs.
Turn these on per client and only pay for what each one uses. You'll see add-on pricing the moment you start your trial.
The reason MSPs stay on a platform they've stopped trusting is the migration, not the product. So we made the migration the part you don't have to carry.
Push the agent to your whole fleet with our RMM script, brand the console, and bring clients over at your own pace. Your old backups keep running the entire time, so there's never a window where a client is unprotected.
Start your free trial →We map your current setup, brand your console, and move clients over one at a time, testing real restores before anything gets switched off. No rip-and-replace weekend and no gap in protection.

An MSP backup solution is a backup platform built for managed service providers to run across many client environments at once, rather than for a single business to run on itself. The practical differences are multi-tenancy, white-label branding so your clients see your brand, wholesale per-device pricing that leaves room for your margin, and fleet deployment through your RMM instead of installing machine by machine.
Judge it on restore speed and restore testing rather than backup speed, on workload coverage so one platform handles servers, workstations, Microsoft 365 and hypervisors, on immutability so ransomware can't destroy the backups, on pricing you can predict without per-GB surprises, on how deep the white-label goes, on whether the vendor sells direct to your clients, and on whether support is answered by someone who has actually run an MSP.
Magnus Box wholesale pricing is $7 per workstation and $17 per server per month for files-and-folders backup with pooled storage, plus per-unit add-ons for disk image, Microsoft 365, VMware, Hyper-V, Proxmox, databases and Managed Backup. A $45/month partner account includes white-label branding, support, and your first three licenses free. You set your own client pricing and keep the margin.
White-label backup means the console, the agent and the client-facing reports carry your branding instead of the vendor's, so the service looks like part of your own stack. With Magnus Box it's included in the $45/month partner account rather than sold as a premium tier, and we're channel-only, so we never sell to your clients.
Yes. Magnus Box covers servers and workstations on Windows, macOS and Linux, Microsoft 365 including Mail, OneDrive, SharePoint and Teams, VMware, Hyper-V, Proxmox virtual machines and containers, disk image with bare-metal recovery, and application-aware database backup, all from one console with one agent and one bill.
Yes. Disk image backup gives you full bare-metal recovery, and you can restore to physical hardware, to a hypervisor, or to a cloud target. It's a per-unit add-on you enable for the clients that need it.
By restoring it. That's the honest answer, and it's why the trial is a working environment rather than a demo. Test a full restore on a real machine before you move a single client, and keep testing on a schedule after that.
