About Magnus Box

Our Story

Magnus Box started as an idea in January 2018. We started Magnus Box back then to benefit our Managed Service Provider company or MSP (Ctrl-Alt-Delete Computer Repair LLC).

We had just witnessed another business client lose all of their data. They thought their data was safe because it was stored on a 6-year-old external hard drive. When they came into the office one day, all they could hear were clicking noises coming from their external hard drive.

We sent their hard drive out to a data recovery company. After a week or two, the quote to get their data back was over $2000. This small mom-and-pop business client could not afford to recover their data. Because they lost all of their data, they went out of business a few months later.

Magnus Box was created because of these kinds of situations. We tried other backup solutions, and they either limit how much data you can back up or they are too complicated or too clunky to use. Magnus Box fills these gaps by being easy to use and allowing unlimited data.

Along the way of growing Magnus Box for use in our MSP, a few of our friends in the industry saw what we were doing and said, “You should offer your platform to other IT companies.” It was this single sentence that sparked a massive change for Magnus Box. Over Thanksgiving 2018, we ripped out all of the systems we had built for our MSP and rebuilt them from the ground up to serve the MSP community.

Who do we serve?

Magnus Box is available exclusively to technology service providers, computer repair providers, and MSPs worldwide. Magnus Box will never sell directly to the general public. We do this because we were where you are, trying to provide services to our clients when our providers were directly competing with us. There was nothing more frustrating than losing a client to the company that we were purchasing our services from to resell to our clients.
What makes us different?

Magnus Box was built by techs for techs. Our team has extensive first-hand experience in the MSP industry. All of our staff and founders came directly from the tech industry; this allows us to build useful features for our partners. No investors. Most backup companies have investors, venture capitalists, or a board to answer to. Magnus Box was bootstrapped and started from the ground up by a former MSP owner. The only people that we answer to are our amazing partners. We don’t just sell you a service. We fully support you after signup. Most companies will just sell you a product or service, and that is where the relationship ends. Our team becomes part of your team. Can I set my own schedules for backups?

Yes, Magnus Box allows customizable backup scheduling. We also have 9 customizable retention range options to choose from and customizable email reporting.
Can I have multiple Protected Items on one device?

Yes, you can have as many Protected Items on one device as you'd like. Depending on the device and OS, not every Protected Item is supported on every device.
Where can I back up my data to?

Magnus Box supports a multitude of different storage destinations including the cloud storage that is included with your cost and your own devices like a NAS device or an external hard drive.
