Why 3-2-1 Isn’t a Strategy. It’s Just the Starting Point

The 3-2-1 backup rule has been around for a long time, and for good reason. It’s simple, effective, and a good starting point for protecting client data.

But here’s the problem. A lot of MSPs stop there. They think 3-2-1 is the strategy, when in reality, it’s just the beginning.

Let’s say you have three copies of data. One primary, one local backup, and one offsite. Sounds solid, right? Until ransomware encrypts both the primary and the local backup. Or you find out the offsite copy hasn’t run in two weeks. Or worse, you try to restore and realize the backup has never actually been tested.

3-2-1 is not a full strategy. It’s the baseline.

That’s exactly what we’re going to talk about during our upcoming Live AMA on backup strategy. It’s happening on April 29 at 5 PM EST, and you’re invited to be part of it.

What to Expect

This isn’t a boring webinar or another product demo. This is a live, unscripted conversation between me and Luke Premo. We’re keeping it fast-paced and honest. Here’s a look at what we’ll be covering:

  • Why 3-2-1 is a starting point, not a complete plan

  • Real MSP backup stories from the trenches

  • Common mistakes that still happen far too often

  • How to build a smarter, more resilient backup strategy

  • A few game-show-style questions, just to keep it fun

  • Live Q and A with the community

Whether you’re a newer MSP or a seasoned pro, you’ll walk away with something useful. This is all about real-world advice you can actually apply.
